High availability and ultra-fast access to information is essential for running our business,” explains Sean Darcy, Managing Director at DSV.  “We needed a solution that would allow us manage shipments, resources and documents that are all concurrently in motion with zero data loss and a maximum of one hour recovery time.”

Trilogy Technologies, DSV’s ICT services provider implemented a Disaster Recovery Solution FAS NetApp SAN replication with snap mirror and VMware site recovery software.  DSV’s voice recognition software which is used to run the warehouse picking system is configured on a highly available cluster in the primary location.  This replicates in real time to a second location.  In the event of an outage, there is zero data loss and recovery of the secondary site is achieved in less than an hour.

The solution is built on NetApp’s unified storage architecture, NetApp SnapMirror technology provides fast, efficient data replication and disaster recovery for DSV’s critical data.  Benefits include new network compression technology to reduce bandwidth utilisation; accelerated data transfers and improved storage efficiency in a virtual environment using NetApp deduplication.

“We have a solution that is scalable and have access to all the information we need at all times,” adds Sean.  “We now have the solution we need which can turn disaster recovery into a business accelerator.  Trilogy demonstrated that they have the integration and consultancy skills needed to complete the project successfully and delivered on our requirements of high availability, disaster recovery, performance, data protection and effective management of data storage.”
