Dynamic private cloud infrastructure for The CCD

The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) provides a world-class conference venue in the heart of Ireland’s capital city. Since The CCD opened in September 2010, it has hosted over 1,000 events which have generated significant revenue for the Irish economy.

Dynamic private cloud infrastructure for The CCD
The Challenge

The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) aims to offer conference and event organisers, as well as conference delegates, an unrivalled event experience. In order to maintain and improve the growing international conference and event experience, CCD recognised the need to upgrade their IT infrastructure and to become more energy efficient.

The Solution

Following a tender process, Trilogy implemented an agile private cloud infrastructure that is replicated in real-time to a similar Virtual Private Cloud hosted onsite in separate data centres. The core solutions are built on the NetApp FAS Enterprise storage platform, VMware vSphere with converged compute and 10GB Cisco networking. Trilogy migrated an existing aging server and storage platform as well as a public cloud-based backup infrastructure to the new private cloud. This gives The CCD a fully scalable IT infrastructure to support both production and backup environments. It also provides greater control, stability and is more energy efficient.

The CCD has 70 permanent employees and the solution is underpinned by Trilogy’s Managed IT as a Service monitoring solution. This provides on-going administration and management of the infrastructure and is reported via the Trilogy edge/point portal.

The Result

CCD now has a scalable IT infrastructure with improved ease of management.  Reductions in power consumption along with air conditioning savings result in reduced costs.

  • A dynamic private cloud infrastructure capable of supporting the new CRM system and delivering improved services to customers
  • A high performance, energy efficient and flexible solution which is capable of supporting both production and back up environments.
  • A Managed IT as a Service server monitoring solution to provide ongoing administration and infrastructure management and support for users. All of which is reported via the Trilogy edge/point portal.

client perspective

" Trilogy maximised resource efficiency with the new infrastructure. This has resulted in improved ease of management with impressive power consumption and air conditioning savings which reduce costs. We also know that our data is in safe hands. "
