Wellman International recognised the need to address the problems posed by an ageing and increasingly troublesome hardware infrastructure along with the importance of strengthening their mission critical systems resilience and availability. In order to reduce their carbon footprint they focused on minimising power consumption, cooling requirements and their dependence on large UPSs.
Following a detailed tendering process, Trilogy Technologies was selected as the preferred solution provider for Wellman International. Trilogy implemented a fully redundant virtual private cloud infrastructure based on IBM Servers, Storage and Backup and built the Infrastructure in VMware VSphere technology. Additional IBM storage is configured on a virtual platform and located in a separate communications room on the Wellman campus. The SANs are connected via Fibre backbone using the backup and replication features of Veeam Software and provide Wellman with continuous uptime while also addressing business continuity and disaster recovery.
The complete solution is underpinned by a Trilogy managed service which includes system and application monitoring along with management and reporting via the Trilogy edge/point portal. Wellman now have real-time online replication on their IT systems which allows the company to respond quickly in the event of any failure or disaster. Should their systems go down, they know that the virtual environment will ensure users experience minimum disruption. This solution is cost effective and eliminates the risks previously present as a result of an ageing IT infrastructure. The Disaster Recovery solution ensures Wellman’s IT systems are always available to users.
